    End of the Spring Festival -- Today is the offical end of the 15 days of celebration (which started on the 11th) now things will start to get back to normal and above all else prices will start to drop - starting with bus tickets -- 20:13:33 02/25/02

    Holidays -- Spring Festival is the major holidays for all of China, with most shops closed for at least 3 days with govt offices (except banks) shut for 7 days -- 09:03:14 02/14/02

      12 Feb 2002 -- The start of the Chinese New Year of The Horse - for the next 7 days a 30-70% increase in all hotels prices and transport will have the same rises till the middle of March - here in Guilin lots of people are doing last minute shopping for sweets and lots of noise from fire-crackers -- 04:52:25 02/12/02

      Hot Spring Hotel - Longsheng at 2.5* hours north of Guilin. Staff are friendly but service is lacking, good position (right on top of the springs),
      charges Y5 for extra towels.
      *Directions:- From Guilin Bus Station Express Bus to Longsheng
      Y15-17 (Local Bus Y10)
      >Longsheng to Hot Springs (32 km) Y4.5 local bus (taxi Y60)
      >Entrance to Park Y10 >Fee for using hot spring Y20 (free if staying at hotel) At the time of writing US$1=Y8.
    • Hint:- if you do not want to stay at the springs and you want to visit the springs the next day don't throw your entrance ticket away, use it to get into the park again.

      Hike in chongqing -- 2、 Jinyun Mountain. You can arrive there at afternoon, u can enjoy hotspring and BBQ. The next morning, you will climb the mountain. You go to the town for dinner. It is a very special food. In china we call this: Douhua. (One kind of Doufu) After dinner, you can go round the town. It has a long history.

      3、 Jindaoxia. It is a very nice gorge. The shortcoming is the ticket is very expensive, 30 or 40 RMB per person.

      4、 Shengdeng Mountain. There are so many holes into it. You can cross from one hole to another. Some of them are very narrow. We call them Cat Cave or Dog Cave so on. There is an old man lived under the cliff. He made everything in stone. He engraves many pictures on the wall.

      5、 Mountain and history town. You can see the very nice countryside view on the top of the mountain. You can feel the long history of town.

      6、 Tour by boat. This place is in Fuling. Take a boat, no machine one. The view looks like the Three Gorges of Yangze River. Get across a forest, then climb up the mountain, you will see a very beautiful view. -- 10:30:43 10/31/01
