GuiLin
to ChengYang

As
our small expedition team gathered together in the Dong village
of ChengYang - famous for it's "Wind and Rain"
Bridges and Water Wheels all built without a single nail been used - about 166 km north west of GuiLin
(see map),
we are greeted with the centuries old sight of rice planting with
every villager and "his dog" are out in the fields doing
this back braking task.

Here
we are met and briefed by Mr Yang a Dong expert from the village
of MaAn. Who will be accompanying us as guide for the entire journey
into the outer regions of GuiZhou.
Along the way, he told us, we'll be stopping to visit the remote
villages of the Shui People, many different Miao villages
with such exquisite names as - the "Hundred Feathered"
People, Black Miao, "Flower" Miao, "mini
skirt" Miao - along with rarely seen Dong and Yeo
villages.
He
also told us that if we hurry we will be on time to see the annual
Miao's Sisters
Festival around the TaiJiang area but centered in the Village
of ShiDong.
Afterwards
on the way back, we'll head to the villages of LongLi and
TangAn. Two of the only 4 villages in GuiZhou which the villagers
themselves have set up on the lines of the late Norwegian John Gjestrum
principles of Living Ecological Museums.
